Here Comes The Boom – Great Movie

Here comes the boom

Admittedly my taste in movies might not be the same as many of my peers. I don’t really get into vampires, witchcraft, aliens and hobbits. I don’t need spaceships and computer generated characters. I like movies that are based in some sense of reality that leave me feeling good. I certainly don’t want to spend $9 on a movie ticket and even move for popcorn to come away scared out of my mind or depressed.

I find myself getting weary with the movie industry because they take what would be a great movie and drop enough profanity in it to ruin it for me.

Last night Felicia and I along with our son and his girlfriend went to the movies and saw, Here Comes The Boom, starring Kevin James.  From watching the trailer I had some idea what the movie was about. A forty something year old biology teacher (James) who decides to compete in mixed martial arts to raise money for a financially struggling school.

Having watched Kevin James playing a fat, lazy and stupid husband on the sitcom King of Queens for years I had some pre-conceived ideas that were all wrong.

This movie contains NO: vampires, witches, aliens, hobbits, or spacecraft. There is no profanity and no sex scenes or even sexual innuendoes. What this movie does have is, lots of laughs, passion to believe in something, passion to do whatever it takes to overcome the odds and lots of fun. I left this movie feeling good.

Weather your looking for a movie for a date night with your spouse or something to take the whole family to. I recommend this movie. I’m not sure how much longer it will be in theaters so GO or plan on renting it when it becomes available.
