What Are You Thankful For?

In the book of Colossians chapter 3 verses 15 and 17 the Apostle Paul wrote these words. “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

In verse fifteen he says, “and be thankful.” In verse seventeen he says “, giving thanks to God the Father….”

Thankfulness is not just something we do on a holiday. As believers it  should be a  part of our spiritual and emotional DNA. Should Be!

So many are not thankful. Why?

They are negative: they don’t see anything positive in anything and would rather complain about what is not than to be thankful for what is.

They are Selfish: Just spoiled brats who think that life is all about them.

They have an attitude of entitlement. It’s sad but so many people in the world today think that they are owed something. So when they do get blessed they are not thankful. Whatever it was, it was owed to them.

People are not thankful because they are thoughtless. They just don’t take the time to think about the things they should be thankful for.

Are you a thankful person and if so, what are you thankful for?  I made a quick list for me. I’ll share it with you but not to be bragging or to somehow convey the thought that my thankful list should be important to you. All I’m trying to do is get you thinking. So, here’s a quick  list of the things I’m thankful for.

My Life Partner , Felicia

My three grown children who all bring me joy in their unique way..

My Son’s in law’s.

My grandson, Jackson.

My parents and Felicia’s parents.

My home.

Reasonably good health, which is a big deal concerning where my health went. I’ll write more about that in the future.

My Job.

The ministry.

My church.

My salvation,  along with the temporal and eternal benefits that come with it.

Heaven

I could have given some sort of explanation with each of these items but it would make this post too long.  I just want to get you thinking.

Now my  challenge for you and the question I ‘d like you to answer is this. What are you truly thankful for? I hope to hear from you.
